The attack by Russia into Ukraine has already sent crude oil prices up. But more serious consequences could follow for tens of millions if Ukrainians are not supported and the Russians aren’t stopped. Who says? PissedConsumer.com co-founder Michael Podolsky’s op-ed to MHProNews on the apparent Vladimir Putin-led Russian aggression into Ukraine merits some context. The Masthead posted an article “The Party is Over, so What’s Next?” It begins with an ancient yet insightful quote: “In war, truth is the first casualty.” ― Aeschylus. That was 3.20.2020, and the tortured road since then underscored that ‘business as usual’ is to miss the point of what was occurring. In inviting Podolsky’s to submit an op-ed, this writer said: “I don’t claim to be a Ukrainian or Russian expert, but some of the commentary [by various media] is little more than ignorance or wishful thinking. Example: when some point to the sharp fall of Russian markets, they may not realize that Putin has billions stashed away. He and his ilk can step in at the market ‘bottom,’ buy cheap, and get even richer thereafter. American billionaires and deep pocket investors do similarly.”

This report on Ukraine will include several segments, but will begin with the op-ed by Podolsky, who knows the country well. It will also include a video by the Ukrainian Ambassador. Her comments mirrored and confirmed Podolsky’s briefer comments to MHProNews yesterday.

MichaelPodolskyPICCoFounderPissedConsumerLOGO“Tony,

Thank you for your email.  At the moment I am working to save my guys. Keep them safe.

[Vladimir] Putin said in his statement that he will be expanding Earlier occupied territory, however,  attack on Ukraine is a full force.  Ukraine is being attacked from all fronts now.

Ukrainian Army is fighting and fighting very well.  Numerous airplanes, helicopters and tanks of Russian army were destroyed by Ukrainian forces.

Russian is using everything but nuclear weapons against Ukraine now.

If Putin is not stopped, you are watching beginning of WW3.

A lot of people in Russia are not supporting Putin’s actions.  This morning several Tanks of Russian army were abandoned in the field by Russian soldiers who refused to cross Ukrainian border.

Ukraine needs western support to keep off this aggression.  We need real equipment, humanitarian aid and a lot of sanctions to support Ukraine’s fight.”

With that backdrop, here is Podolosky’s op-ed.

Why does PissedConsumer.com Care about Ukraine?

Opinion by Michael Podolsky

Subjects:

  • Ukraine / Democracy / PissedConsumer
  • Why We Care about Ukraine – The truth should be heard

MichaelPodolskyPICCoFounderPissedConsumerLOGOOn February 24, Ukrainians awoke to their country being bombed and invaded.  They fled their homes and sought shelter from the most vicious European conflict since World War II.

Ukraine is a sovereign nation that chose democracy after freeing itself from the former Soviet Union’s 70-year domination.  Putin wishes to re-absorb all or part of Ukraine.  Ukrainians want to remain free and in a state of self-determination.

The Ukrainians are outnumbered, outgunned, and under-funded.  Despite this, the Ukrainian people have vowed to fight this attack on their sovereignty and freedom.

Why does PissedConsumer.com Care about Ukraine?

Most of the PissedConsumer.com team is based in Eastern Ukraine. For the past 15 years, we nurtured democracy and built a website that supports freedom of speech for consumers all over the world.

PissedConsumer supports Democracy. Ukraine supports Democracy and freedom of speech.

History of the Conflict

Putin is a former KGB agent who came to power in Russia and has viciously slapped down any attempts to challenge his authority.  He has imprisoned or killed opposition leaders and speaking out against him will usually land you in jail.  The fall of the USSR promised a new era of freedom and democracy in Eastern Europe, and while that bloomed in much of the former Warsaw Pact, Russia remains in as tight of an authoritarian grip as it was under the Communists.

At this point, the Russian government has ordered all Russian media to censor information about the war.  Despite this, word is spreading in Russia as well, and there have been protests against the invasion.  However, those protests were shut down and thousands of peaceful protesters are in jail.

While Russia has a massive and well-equipped military, the Ukrainian army is strong, disciplined, well-trained, and standing to defend their homeland despite devastating odds.  Ukrainians maintain their faith that their army…

You are right.

It’s a real war now, but the Ukrainian army is strong.  The Ukrainian Army is the 22nd army in the world ranking.  The Ukrainian Army has learned its difficult lessons holding off quasi-Russian aggression for the past 8 years in Donbass region. Ukrainians want to live in an independent and democratic country. People want to live in peace.

As I have heard the President of the United States speak on the evening of February 24th, 2022, I have heard a lot about NATO Allies and how much help Ukraine has received previously.  President Biden has not spoken about future help that Ukraine will get to fight off the aggressor.  Ukrainian warriors are good, but they need equipment to fight off the superior aggressor.

Americans, if you think the U.S. is backing down and being too weak:

  1. Go to ziplook.house.gov Here you can enter your zip code and find your congressional representative.
  2. Call the 202 number listed and ask for your representative’s office.
  3. Somebody at your representative’s office will answer. Give them your name and zip code where you live, telling them you’re a constituent. Then share your most passionate thoughts and opinions. These office workers collect constituents’ opinions on various topics, and congressmen use these notes to gauge how they should act and vote.
Since the war with Russia doesn’t seem to entail a powerful business lobby, I think it’s much less likely that a congressman’s position will have already been bought by a corporate sponsor. So your opinion here can really make a difference.

With this article I, as a co-founder and CEO of PissedConsumer.com, would like to ask you to assist Ukraine in its desire to remain a democratic country and not to be swallowed by an autocratic führer.

Please share this message to help stop WW3 that will come to your house if Ukraine fails to stop the aggression.

Share the truth and pray for Ukraine. ##

Note that Oxford Languages defines “führer” as a “ruthless, tyrannical leader.” It is an apparent reference to Putin-led Russia. British intelligence, per WMAL on 2.25.2022, says that the Russians are behind on obtaining their military objectives in the Ukraine. Reportedly, some 450 Russian causalities have occurred, along with the loss of aircraft, helicopters, tanks and more. Some of those tactical achievements are due to prior support during the Trump-era of Ukraine’s military.

Those points underscore what Podolsky and the Ukrainian Ambassador (further below) stated.

According to Ungagged: “Michael Podolsky is a co-founder of PissedConsumer.com – one of the largest, fastest growing and most trusted websites in consumer reviews segment with more than 3.5 million visitors a month. Since 2006 Michael is involved in technology development, search engine optimization, legal strategy and overall management of the site. While managing the website’s growth, he started enjoying legal aspects of the business. Site is a major player in ORM industry and won many very well cited cases in US courts. Michael is a known consumer rights advocate.

He and his team are fighting for a freedom of speech, while enjoying protection of Fair Use Doctrine and Section 230 of Communication Decency Act (CDA). While website policies are often called controversial for the non-removal policies for the reviews, over the years, Michael played an important role in setting standards and procedures for removal of untruthful or defamatory reviews.

Michael has BS in Computer Science from Queens College 1996 and MBA in Finance from Stern NYU 2001. …”

Hours before Yahoo News reported on Thursday, February 24, 2022, 3:11 PM that the Ukrainian Ambassador Oksana Markarova said, “Just before I came here, we got information from our chief commander that one of the platoons of the 74th motorized brigade from Kemerovo Oblast surrendered.”

“They didn’t know that they were brought to Ukraine to kill Ukrainians. They thought they were doing something else there,” she added. The video was streamed by PBS around 11 AM ET. So, well before she made her announcement, Podolsky informed MHProNews about the early word he heard about that event from his sources in Ukraine.

“Stand with Ukraine” protests occurred near the White House.

Lt. Gen. Flynn: Biden ‘set the table’ and ‘invited’ Putin to invade

Predicts U.S. president will ‘triple down’ on failed foreign policy

By Art Moore
Published February 24, 2022 at 4:43pm

Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, who briefly served as President Trump’s national security adviser, is blaming the current occupant of the Oval Office for the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

“President Biden and his failed foreign policy team set the table and sent the invitation and President Putin came and spoiled the dinner party,” Flynn said in a statement.

Flynn doubted the Biden administration will pivot after its failures and instead will make “weak attempts to triple down on leveraging this extremely serious situation in Europe to continue to distract from problems here at home.”

At the White House on Thursday afternoon, Biden told reporters he had not expected in the previous weeks leading up to the invasion that the threat of sanctions would deter Putin.

“He’s not going to say, ‘Oh my god, sanctions are coming, I’m going to stand down,'” Biden said of the Russian leader.

However, Vice President Kamala Harris told reporters on Sunday that “the purpose of the sanctions has always been and continues to be deterrence.”

Biden said Thursday that now that sanctions are being implemented, “it will take time” to see any results.

In his statement, Flynn wondered how Biden came to the conclusion that he should shut down the Keystone XL pipeline, undermining America’s energy independence, while enabling Russia and Germany to continue building the Nord Stream 2 pipeline.

Flynn’s deputy national security adviser during his 22 days in the White House, KT McFarland, said Thursday that the “single most important thing” Biden could do to counter Putin is to take away Russia’s leverage by reopening “American energy industry.”

Flynn listed the actions of the Democratic Party government: “Describing America as a systemically racist nation, the appointment of Marxists and other radical ideologues to positions of power, allowing millions to surge across our southern border, attempts to federalize and take over our election systems and processes, implementing racist CRT in our schools, our military and across our government, all along, raising the national debt closing in on $30 Trillion dollars, spending us toward extinction, all for left-wing causes.”

He also recalled “the Afghanistan disaster, the myriad lies about COVID, a certain Biden-owned laptop, and a fraudulent presidential election that has massive amounts of evidence coming out daily … all while China gets a pass.”

“It is extremely difficult to trust this administration as they lie with a straight face to the American people daily,” Flynn said.

Flynn resigned his national security adviser post amid a Russia-related probe against him launched by the Obama Justice Department. The DOJ later dropped charges after Flynn and his lawyer, Sidney Powell, presented evidence he was “ambushed” by FBI agents after the bureau concluded it didn’t have a case.

McFarland served another three months after Flynn’s resignation and was asked to step down by successor H.R. McMaster.##

Another report by Art Moore at WND NewsCenter to MHProNews focused on why Putin’s been prepared for this assault on Ukrainian sovereignty, and why flaccid sanctions alone will not work.

Here’s the ‘single most important’ thing Biden can do to counter Putin

Former Trump security official warns sanctions won’t deter Russia

By Art Moore
Published February 24, 2022 at 1:51pm

The “single most important thing” President Biden could do to counter Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is to take away Vladimir Putin’s leverage by reopening “American energy industry,” according to former deputy national security adviser KT McFarland.

President Biden announced new sanctions Thursday, but McFarland said in an interview this morning with “Fox & Friends” that the penalties won’t deter Putin.

That’s because the Russian leader’s “coffers” are full and he has “political leverage over Europe.”

Noting “providence has given us the greatest stockpiles and supplies oil and natural gas of any other region of the world,” Biden could go to the Germans and other European nations and promise “energy security,” said McFarland, who served under President Trump.

Biden, she said, could say: “Buy cheap, clean American natural gas. Forget about the Russians.”

“He could go to the Asians and say, I’m going to supply you with energy as well,” said McFarland.

“Not only would that take away the leverage of Russia and China, it would also drive the prices of energy down and bankrupt Russia. They need high revenues from oil or they can’t pay for anything else.”

On his first day in office, Biden shut down the Keystone XL pipeline and subsequently reversed many Trump administration policies that had made the U.S. energy independent. And he allowed the continued construction of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline connecting Europe to Russian oil.

At the White House on Thursday afternoon, Biden told reporters he had not expected in the previous weeks leading up to the invasion that the threat of sanctions would deter Putin.

“He’s not going to say, ‘Oh my god, sanctions are coming, I’m going to stand down,'” Biden said.

However, Vice President Kamala Harris told reporters on Sunday that “the purpose of the sanctions has always been and continues to be deterrence.”

Biden said Thursday that now that sanctions are being implemented, “it will take time” to see any results.

Putin, he said, is “going to test the resolve of the West to stay together.”

“And we will,” Biden said. “We will and it will impose significant costs on him.”

See Biden’s remarks Thursday on sanctions:

After the [Biden] press conference, Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., said he will “introduce legislation on Monday when the Senate returns to session to lift Joe Biden’s shut down of the American energy sector and return American energy to full production.”

“No more weakness,” he wrote on Twitter.

Note that Biden said his sanctions were not targeting the Russian oil and gas industry.

Without hitting the Russians in the economic areas that it may hurt Putin and his allies in Russia, how could sanctions hope to succeed on any level?

If Ukrainians are not energetically supported with the defensive arms and humanitarian support they have asked for, how can they stand up to a Russian military that is many times its size?

Stating the obvious, it’s an election year in the U.S. Wikipedia says that in 2019, “there were 1,009,874 Americans of Ukrainian decent.” There are millions of others who themselves or their descendants hail from countries that have suffered under socialist, fascist, or communist authoritarian rule. In looking at Canada’s Justin Trudeau harsh crackdown using emergency powers on the Trucker’s Freedom Convoy there, supporting freedom is important to protect our own rights.

Reviewing PissedConsumer.com co-founder Michael Podolsky’s commonsense tips and ask makes sense.

1. Go to ziplook.house.gov Here you can enter your zip code and find your congressional representative.

  1. Call the 202 number listed and ask for your representative’s office.
  2. Somebody at your representative’s office will answer. Give them your name and zip code where you live, telling them you’re a constituent. Then share your most passionate thoughts and opinions. These office workers collect constituents’ opinions on various topics, and congressmen use these notes to gauge how they should act and vote.

With additional MHProNews editorial observations, once this column is published, this writer will do precisely what Podolsky suggested.  Call our U.S. House representative and stress the need to take stronger steps to oppose Russian aggression.

  • Punish the Russian financial, banking, and energy sectors,
  • Unleash domestic energy and restart and complete the Keystone XL pipeline.
  • Encourage the federal plans that in the Trump era led to U.S. energy independence, while still protecting valid environmental interests.
  • Send military equipment and humanitarian aid to the Ukrainians.

Failure to take such steps could witness a further destabilization in Europe, with China vs. Taiwan, and beyond. We don’t need boots on the ground now. Call your representative and tell them your “passionate thoughts” that let them know you want common sense steps taken to support Ukrainian freedom fighters that Britian says is fighting effectively. The party is over. It has been for some time. Freedom isn’t free. Make the call, today. Then share theses pointers, facts, and views with others, as Podolsky suggested. ##
