Farmers, Businesses, Manufactured Housing, and Pending USMCA Farming People Parody Video

The United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) will benefit American workers by enabling free and fair trade while supporting a 21st-century economy,” says the producers of a new parody video.

Agriculture is a major component of foreign trade,” said the Missouri Farm Bureau, which said that it “works for greater access to global markets through new trade agreements and enforcement of existing trade commitments.”

That’s not an exaggeration, according to the data below from the USDA. The infographic is from May, 2017.

Humor can be a great way to convey a message, and this parody video is designed to support the USMCA.  Manufactured housing industry professionals in retail, production, finance, and other segments of the industry know that rural housing is often HUD Code manufactured homes.  Not only are farmers and ranchers industry customers, but they supply the nation with relatively inexpensive food.  That means there is more income for others to buy items – like affordable manufactured housing.

But there are serious arguments being made for this USMCA trade deal too. Peter Navarro, in an interview with left-of-center CNBC today a top trade negotiator for the Trump Administration predicts a 100 percent chance that this will pass in 2019.

I’m going to give it a 100% here because it’s so important for this country and I can’t imagine that Nancy Pelosi would not put this on the floor to at least have a vote,” Peter Navarro told CNBC.

I mean, as you know, there’s some progressive politics going on: They want to take our cars and our cheeseburgers, our private health insurance, raise our taxes and then give the money away to illegal immigrants for health care,” Navarro said of the Democrats. “I don’t think that’s who Nancy Pelosi is. I think she is going to do the right thing on this and get the job done.”

That may be optimistic, but time will tell. Political, trade and economic snapshot related reports are found in the related reports, further below. As a reminder to industry pros, some HUD Code manufactured home production has occurred in Mexico.  That’s a topic we may pull back the curtain on in the days ahead. Stay tuned.
