Will There Be A Biloxi (Old Tunica) Manufactured Home Show? Bill Gates Costly “Gift,” plus, Manufactured Housing Investing, Stock Updates

DowJones12.15.2020ManufacturedHomeStockUpdatesBroaderMarketSnapshotFormerly held in Tunica, the South Central Manufactured Housing Institute [SCMHI] has moved its annual manufactured home show to Biloxi, Mississippi. Held at the Imperial Palace Casino Resort and Spa, the 2021 Biloxi Show is quickly shaping up to be the industry’s premiere event of the year. From a wide array of new homes and the latest in products and services, to offering attendees the opportunity to speak directly to the industry professionals, the 2021 Biloxi Show will have it all.”

That is per the Biloxi Manufactured Housing Show (Biloxi Show) official web blurb.

A few weeks ago, MHProNews reported that the Louisville Manufactured Housing Show had been cancelled. We asked the question at the time, will the Biloxi Show be cancelled too?

2021 Louisville Manufactured Housing Show Canceled, Biloxi Manufactured Home Show in Doubt? Behind Scenes Added Insights

The short answer is “yes.”  The Biloxi Show has been scrubbed until sometime in 2022, says their website.

The organizers for the new Biloxi Manufactured Housing Show have opted to put off the event until it can be safely held in 2022. Dates to be announced,” is their notice.

The show’s cancellation perhaps should not be blamed per se on Bill Gates, but the timing following Gates interview with Jake Tapper on CNN on 12.13.2020 is worth noting. Gates said during the video interview that it may be 2022 before life begins to return to normal. Gates thinks restaurants and bars “sadly” should be kept closed, perhaps for the next 4 to 6 months. Did he seem sympathetic or empathetic as he said that?

Several governors in blue states, and some red states too, are apparently taking heed. Never mind that the thousands of medical experts in the Great Barrington Declaration disagree with the strategy of mass lockdowns.

COVID19 Shutdowns! “The Great Barrington Declaration,” SCOTUS Constitutional Rights Ruling

The ability of several mainstream media talking heads to make Gates and the Gates Foundation sound so altruistic is remarkable. There is no hint in the video interview above that the pandemic is making Gates and others in the Oligarchic Dozen far wealthier than they were pre-COVID19.

Without directly weighing in on the Biloxi Show decision, it is worth noting that some plant shows have been reported to have taken place. That contrast is worth noting between shuttering the two big wholesale show events, while individual plant shows are occurring? That may be worth exploring another time.

The outlook for small businesses, per the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is grim.  That and more on Gates will be our featured focus for this evening.

Newsmax and Thompson Reuters reported today that most small business owners in the United States think the worst of COVID19 pandemic is still ahead. About half of small business owners, according to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday, are saying their operations could permanently close within a year unless the business environment improves.

A new U.S. Chamber-MetLife poll of small businesses taken from Oct. 30-Nov. 10 showed that 74% of the owners said they need further government assistance to weather the pandemic. That percentage rises to 81% for minority-owned businesses.

The quarterly poll found that the 62% of small business owners fear that the worst is still to come with COVID-19’s economic impact. Only 40% said they believe their small businesses can operate indefinitely during the current business environment.

The U.S. Chamber website shows another survey too.

And yet another study, the UPS Store’s Small Biz Buzz survey, shows 41% of small businesses recently changed or pivoted their businesses, taking the following actions:

  • 65% doing more business online.
  • 28% shifting to e-commerce.
  • 15% offering curbside delivery.

We must ensure small businesses across the country receive the assistance they need from the federal government,” said Neil Bradley, the Chamber’s chief policy officer. “Not passing the bipartisan compromise for temporary and targeted relief risks the permanent loss of tens of thousands of small businesses, financial hardship for millions of Americans, and unnecessary delays in combating the pandemic.”

Congressional Democrats and Republicans are still negotiating over a new coronavirus relief package. There are reasons to think that lawmakers may not be willing to go home for a Christmas break until a deal gets done.

Bradley said the quarterly survey found that 14% of small businesses are currently planning to cut staff, up from 9% in July and September. Staff reduction plans are back up to the 13% level that the survey saw in April during the pandemic’s first peak, he said.

The first COVID-19 vaccines began to be distributed to healthcare workers this week. With the death toll at 300,000, and Gates saying it could rise by another 200,000 in the U.S., the fear factor for many remains high.

But as some have argued, hospital capacity is not stressed in many locales. The risk is relatively low, the recovery rate is high for most who don’t have co-morbidities.
