Sex Allegations, Roy Moore, Trump Agenda, GOP Pivot; Plus MH Market Update$

CNNmoney12.5.2017ManufacturedHomeStocksMarketsReportsMHProNewsDemocratic Minnesota Senator Al Franken has not stepped down, even though there are photos, his apologies, and several accusers.

The most senior Democratic leader in the House, John Conyers (D-GA) has announced he won’t seek re-election.  That has come from his hospital room, and only after significant pressure from within his own party.

So, it may not be a surprise if the GOP has formally – if reluctantly – pivoted on their embattled Alabama special election candidate, Roy Moore, who has denied the allegations, and where some of the accusations have proved upon examination to be murky if not tainted.

The president is saying that his pro-business, pro-growth, pro-jobs agenda could be impacted by a Democratic win in the Alabama special election Senate race, that will take place next Tuesday.  That will be the spotlight feature for today’s market report.

Today’s MH Market Spotlight Report –

The markets have been sensitive to political as well as economic reports for many, many years.  Because investors want stability, and clarity, instability can lead to declines.  So the spotlight today is on the hot topic of the Alabama special election race, and related DC politics.

We provide bullets from across the left-right media/political divide.

Left-of-center CNBC reports that:

  • GOP leaders now backing Moore, despite allegations
  • Looking past allegations of sexual misconduct with Alabama teenagers, Trump formally endorsed Moore, and the Republican National Committee followed suit
  • Trump’s decision and the part’s changing tone increase Moore’s chances of victory despite the continued unease of some other Republicans.

Left-of-center Bloomberg reports on this issue the following bullets:

  • Alabama Senate candidate accused of sexual misconduct
  • GOP Senator Flake donates to Moore’s Democratic opponent

Right-of-center Fox Business’ Stuart Varney says the success of President Trump’s growth agenda has presented a major problem for Democrats.

President Trump’s comments at a meeting with Senate Republicans are in the video, below.

The photo from AP/LATimes is of John Conyers, prior to his recent hospitalization.  While he says he is stepping down, the early word is that his son is being promoted to take his place.
