Several States Submit Two Slates of Electors, 2020 Election Crisis Continues, plus Manufactured Housing Investing, Stock Updates

DowJones12.14.2020ManufacturedHomeStockUpdatesBroaderMarketSnapshotInvestors like maximum certainty. It is a longtime adage that is widely agreed to, and a similar comment could be made about professionals in a given industry.

So, it logically follows that when there is uncertainty, investors and professionals like do not like that type of outcome. While attorneys may, depending on their role, may value the opportunity that uncertain may offer more opportunities for offering legal services,  numbers of professionals favor the maximum clarity possible.

With that backdrop, another point is useful in teeing up tonight’s report. Part of certainty is dependent upon information.  When there is a dispute, the ability to find competing sources of information so as to be able to gauge what claim might make the most sense is valued by millions.

With that in mind, is this stunning recent announcement by YouTube.

Per Yahoo News, YouTube’s determination to curb election misinformation is extending to disputes over the results. The Google-owned service has started removing content uploaded from December 9th onward if it alleges that “widespread fraud or errors” altered the outcome of the 2020 US presidential election. States have certified the results, YouTube said, and December 8th was the safe harbor deadline for the election — Joe Biden is the President-elect as far as the government is concerned, and the video site is acting accordingly.”

It is entirely possible that videos that have been posted by MHProNews or others recently may vanish from YouTube.

It is sadly emblematic of the fictional Nineteen Eighty Four (1984) drama that is playing out in America. More on that in the report linked here.

That noted, however much some in media, politics, or elsewhere may dislike the fact that President Donald J. Trump, his legal team, and other de facto legal allies are pressing ahead with their electoral challenges, that is the reality of the matter. As one of several hypothetical paths that could still result in a Trump-Pence second term, several states today have two slates of electors. One set, favoring Biden-Harris, the other favoring Trump-Pence.

That will be our featured focus for tonight. For new readers, the featured focus follows thought provoking quotable quotes, today’s left-right headline recap, and two of the three market snapshots at the closing bell today. Where Business, Politics and Investing Can Meet

SeveralStatesSubmitTwoSlatesElectors2020ElectionCrisisContinuesManufacturedHousingInvestingStockUpdatesMHProNews

At least four states – Pennsylvania, Georgia, Nevada, and Arizona Republican Electors – Cast Votes for President Donald J. Trump and Vice President Mike Pence, reported the Epoch Times on December 14, 2020.

Said the Epoch Times:

  • Republican electors in Pennsylvania, Georgia, Nevada, Arizona all said they voted for Trump. It comes as their states formally appointed Democratic electors who voted for Democrat Joe Biden and Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.).
  • The Pennsylvania GOP said in a news release that electors met in Harrisburg to “cast a conditional vote” for Trump and Pence “at the request of the Trump campaign.” Their vote comes as Democratic electors cast their Electoral College votes for Biden and Harris.
  • We took this procedural vote to preserve any legal claims that may be preserved going forward,” said Pennsylvania Trump campaign chairman Bernie Comfort in a statement.
  • In Georgia, David Shafer, the chairman of the state’s Republican Party, said that GOP electors made their move today because the “President’s lawsuit contesting the Georgia election is still pending.”
  • The Republican nominees for Presidential Elector met today at noon at the State Capitol today and cast their votes for President and Vice President,” Shafer said in a tweet. “Had we not meet today and cast our votes, the President’s pending election contest would have been effectively mooted. Our action today preserves his rights under Georgia law.”

The Electoral College votes cast on Dec. 14 will be counted on Jan. 6 during a Joint Session of Congress.  The House of Representatives and Senate meet.

After states have completed their vote counts and gathered the official results, “the U.S. Code (3 U.S.C. Section 6) requires the state governors to prepare, ‘as soon as practicable,’ documents known as Certificates of Ascertainment of the vote.”

The certificates must list the names of the electors chosen by the voters and the number of votes received in the popular election results, also the names of all losing candidates for elector, and the number of votes they received,” according to the Congressional Research Service, said the Epoch Times.

Certificates of Ascertainment, which are often signed by state governors, must carry the seal of the state. One copy is forwarded to the Archivist of the United States, while six duplicates of the Certificate of Ascertainment must be provided to the electors by December 14, the date on which they meet.”

According to the U.S. Code, when the House and Senate meet, they have to look into “all the certificates and papers purporting to be certificates of the electoral votes.” Several Republican members of Congress have said they would attempt to object to the counting of the Electoral College votes for a state, which would then trigger a series of debates and votes. There is a search for one or more Republican Senators who would join the effort. Two possibilities are said to be weighing that option, with more that might follow.

The only date in the Constitution is Jan. 20. So we have more than enough time to right the wrong of this fraudulent election result and certify Donald Trump as the winner of the election,” White House Adviser Stephen Miller said on “Fox & Friends,” referring to Inauguration Day.

While there have been times when election results where challenged and no clear winner was apparent, this process is viewed by many as unique.
