HUD/MOD Plant Closes Abruptly

WSBT-TV in South Bend reports employees of the Stone Creek Homes plant in Marshall County, IN say they were laid off this week without notice and did not get their final check. They were allegedly told to take their personal belongings, the layoffs were indefinite, and they would be called if work resumes. Attempts to contact company officers by employees and WSBT-TV were not successful, although one supervisor said the owner is nowhere to be found and there is no money to pay employees. MHProNews.com has learned the company, located just south of South Bend, began operations about a year ago with the intent to provide workforce housing for oil and gas workers. We are told the plant employed 40 people.
