Consumer Confidence Gaining

RVBusiness tells a survey of Americans in May indicates consumer confidence rose to the highest level since Oct. 2007. The Thomson Reuters/University of Michigan index rose from 76.4 in April to 79.3 in May, the ninth consecutive increase. The study showed 63 percent of respondents may be considering making a big ticket purchase, and a record number of households have heard good news about the employment situation. President of Fact and Opinion Economics Robert Brusca says, “There seems to be enough real improvement in the job market for confidence to be increasing. When confidence readings increase, you can be pretty sure consumer spending numbers will go up.”
