It would be comical if it wouldn’t be so sad.
There are those in manufactured housing trade media and certain association leaders who try to paint a ‘sunshine and roses’ picture of the state of manufactured housing. Really?
But a look at the data below reveals the stubborn facts. In dozens of states, shipments of manufactured homes have declined year over year for the same time period.

Mark Weiss said it well. Facts are stubborn things.
Let’s not forget that the Manufactured Housing Institute bragged in a video about a year ago to the following effect. That video, surprisingly, is still found on their home page as this article is being drafted. Don’t they even check their own site to see if they can keep their story and details straight? Don’t they have enough staffers to look at the self-contradictions and other misses on their own website?
Embarrassing? Do they not realize that written and on camera statements can readily be recalled?
Is it any surprise why Jennison didn’t want to be publicly questioned by MHProNews at Louisville? Don’t forget, once someone starts a con, there is little choice for the confidence artist to do anything other than continue with their attempted con.
Or is it any surprise that Rick Robinson, in front of dozens of industry professionals, also ducked questions?
The industry is moving backwards year-over-year. That may be good for consolidators looking for a value acquisition, but how does that benefit the vast majority of the remaining independent street retailers, community owners, producers and non-Berkshire lenders?
