Even though investors are edgy about the possibility the Federal Reserve will announce Wednesday that it will begin to wind down its quantitative easing, the markets managed to advance for the day, with the Dow picking up over 100 points. CNNMoney reports the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained +0.73 percent, +109.67 points, to end the day at 15,179.85. The Nasdaq moved up +0.83 percent, +28.57 points, to end the day at 3,452.13, while the S&P rose +0.76 percent, +12.31 points, to finish the session today at 1,639.04. The Yahoo! Finance Manufactured Housing Composite lost -0.16 percent to close at 1134.2. Housing stocks we track closed mixed or even, although the gainers outnumber the losers. Universal Forest Products, Inc. gained the most of stocks we track, adding +9.75 percent, +3.84 to close at 43.23. Cavco Industries, Inc. dropped the most of tracked stocks -1.23 percent, -0.59 points, to finish at 47.52. Affiliated Managers Group 168.66 +2.81(+1.76%). Champion, Liberty Homes and Palm Harbor continued unchanged. Clayton Homes, Vanderbilt Mortgage and Finance, as well as MH home-building, lending and other housing suppliers parent company Berkshire Hathaway 172,710 +1,451.00 (+0.85%). Deer Valley remained unchanged at 0.65. Drew Industries, Inc. 40.80 +0.82 (+2.05%). Equity LifeStyle Properties, Inc. 78.96 -0.01 (-0.01%). Louisiana Pacific Industries 17.11 +0.39 (+2.33%) Nobility Homes remained unchanged at 7.10. Patrick Industries 22.09 +0.96 (+4.54%). Skyline Corp. 4.23 +0.05 (+1.20%).
