RV Sales May Indicate Improving Economy

CNBC ran a story Tuesday on the RV Indicator. Sales of RV’s or recreational vehicles tend to tank first in a tough economy and rebound first in a recovery. RV shipments for 2011 are expected to be up 8.2 percent, a sign that recovery is at hand. Also notable in the article is the fact that while the largest demographic in the RV customer realm is the 50 and above Baby Boomer, the fastest-growing segment is 35 or younger. CNBC notes RVs include everything from the pop-up camper, which goes for about $5,000, to tour buses that can run as much as $750,000 like the one featured in the 2004 comedy film Meet the Fockers.
