As you may have heard, the “unofficial” word from HUD is that Bill Matchneer, the Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary for Regulatory Affairs and Manufactured Housing has been transferred to HUD’s Office of the General Counsel to be replaced by a non-career appointment. Obviously this change has implications for MHI’s priorities regarding the Safe Act and the Manufactured Housing Construction and Safety Standards Program. We have been in touch with the Commissioner and with the Office of Manufactured Housing and we have been assured that this change will not impede efforts to work with MHI to move the industry forward. We understand that Bill Matchneer will continue to play an important role in issues impacting our industry, and we wish him all the best.
