Ordinance from 2010 Requires MHs to Be Above Flood Plain

WREGNews3 in Memphis, Tennessee, says Shelby County residents of factory-built homes who were flooded out recently will have to seek higher ground if they relocate or replace their homes.  An ordinance passed in August 2010 requires the floor of a manufactured home to be one foot above the 100-year flood plain.  The floors of the homes at the Country View community are six to eight feet below the flood plain, and the homes are currently unfit for habitation from the flood.  Code enforcement letters were mailed last week detailing the new ordinance.  Country View management said it was the first they had heard of the new regulation.  Other communities will also be affected by the ordinance.
