Manufactured Home Community Co-operative Applies for Block Grant

Following up on a story MHProNews posted Jan. 20, 2014 regarding a possible grant for water system improvements at the Centennial Estates Manufactured Housing Community (MHC) Cooperative in Derry, New Hampshire, the town council voted to apply for the $500,000 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG). The application will compete against other community projects in the state, according to unionleader.com. The 40 year-old system supplies water from one well to 57 homes, and has developed a series of recent leaks and malfunctions. The project is estimated to cost $850,000, as MHProNews has learned, and the NH state Department of Environmental Services has loaned the co-op $253,000. Residents are pitching  in $100,000. Funds received from the CDBG will be applied to the overall cost.
