Dow Gains, Housing Stocks Close Mixed

Tech stocks drove the rally on Wall Street today as news spread of the $24.4 billion leveraged buyout of Dell computer, sending the Dow to just under the 14,000 mark. CNNMoney reports the Dow Jones Industrial Average advanced +0.71 percent, +99.22 points, to end the day at 13,979.30. The Nasdaq moved up +1.29 percent, +40.41, to close at 3,171.58, while the S&P also gained +1.04 percent, +15.58, to end the week at 1,511.29. The Yahoo! Finance Manufactured Housing Composite lost -0.51 percent to close at 1321.4. Housing stocks we track closed mixed or even. Drew Industries gained the most of tracked stocks, moving up +1.16, +3.27%, to end the day at 36.60. Skyline Corp. fell the most of stocks we follow, dropping -1.47%, -0.07, to end the day at 47.0. Affiliated Managers Group 144.94 +1.87 (+1.31%). Cavco Industries, Inc. 47.47 -0.30 (-0.63%). Clayton Homes, Vanderbilt Mortgage and Finance, as well as MH home-building, lending and other housing suppliers parent company Berkshire Hathaway 146,825 +1,815. (+1.25%). Champion, Liberty Homes, Deer Valley and Palm Harbor continued unchanged. Equity LifeStyle Properties 71.73 -0.17 (-0.24%). Louisiana Pacific Industries 20.37 +0.41 (+2.05%). Nobility Homes remained steady at 5.10. Patrick Industries 16.39 +0.23 (+1.42%). Sun Communities, Inc. 42.94 -0.16 (-0.37%). Third Avenue Value Fund (Feb. 4) 52.24 -0.29 (-0.55%).
