Canadian Modular Housing Development may need Lower Population Density

However, allowing the project, which covers 34 acres, could set a precedent for other areas because it changes the official community plan in its totality, according to mapleridgenews.com. Councilwoman Cheryl Ashlie said it would open the door for an additional 512 acres for this type of development. She said, “How do we say yes to this and not to the others that come forward?” Councilwoman Judy Dueck, noting high density development in similar areas is only possible if developers added extras, said all the facts are not in and she would like to examine the proposal further. Maple Ridge Council directed the staff to work with the developer to determine if a lower population density is feasible. ##
