A 1950s camp site turned into what was back then correctly called a mobile home park, has now become a manufactured home “billionaire’s playground” resort community.
An upcoming spotlight on MHLivingNews, will feature Montauk Shores Resort, where millionaires and billionaires find a prime spot in the ritzy Hamptons, on Long Island, New York.
Originally a space for tent-camping in the 40s and 50s, Montauk Shores was eventually bought up by a combination of 152 families and individuals. That preserved the property from bankruptcy.
From that point on, there was one unspoken rule: “Anything new had to be wheeled in.”
As it stands today Montauk Shores is home to a combination of original residents, those who have moved in over the decades, and the billionaire’s who have been buying up beachfront property in the area in more recent years.
“Owning a trailer [sic] at the park has become the ultimate status symbol for the tony Long Island town’s summering rich and famous,” per the New York Post.
Some of those billionaire’s living in Montauk Shores Resort include the co-founder of Vitaminwater, Darius Bikoff, and hedge fund manager Dan Leob.
Celebrity guests, such as entertainer Jimmy Buffett, stop by too. Look for the full report coming up on ManufacturedHomeLivingNews, soon! ## (News, announcements).
