In light of the Harvard University’s Joint Center for Housing Studies startling conclusion that 25 percent of households spend over 50 percent of their income on rent, nerdwallet.com analyzed the top 100 most populous metro areas to determine which have conditions most favorable for purchasing a home. Arranging the list into small, medium and large areas, nerd based its analysis on three factors: Availability of housing for sale, cost of living, and population growth, which MHProNews has learned signifies a robust economy.
The best five small metro areas in order are Huntsville, Alabama, Fort Wayne, Indiana, Myrtle Beach-Conway, South Carolina, Charlestown, West Virginia and Ocala, Florida.
The best medium metro areas: Des Moines, Iowa, Ogden-Clelarfield, Utah, Provo-Orem, Utah, Grand Rapids-Wyoming, Michigan and Columbia, South Carolina.
The top five large metro areas: Raleigh-Cary, North Carolina, Charlotte, North Carolina, Salt Lake City, Utah, Indianapolis, Indiana and Nashville, Tennessee.
