Allowing Manufactured Homes in Town would Increase Needed Revenue

Councilman Raymond “Shoe-Do” Lewis of the New Iberia, Louisiana City Council asked for support of the council in June, 2013 to amend an ordinance permitting manufactured homes (MH) to be sited in R-3 areas in the city, but did not receive a second to his motion. As iberianet.com tells MHProNews, noting a budget shortfall in this year’s budget, Lewis says allowing MH in the city would create new sales tax revenue, increase property taxes and make a funding mechanism for the city’s compliance department. The ordinance will be on the agenda for the next council meeting.
