Clayton Homes Subsidiary Preparing New Plant

Following up on a story MHProNews posted Oct. 24, 2013 regarding Southern Energy Homes moving into a new facility in Russellville, Alabama, plant manager David Brewer says needed modifications are under way, and he expects the plant to be operational by mid-March to May 1. He does not know how many of the company’s 200 employees will be moving from the Double Springs (AL) plant, nor when Southern intends to hire more workers. The new facility will feature all new production equipment, high ceilings and wide aisles, and anticipates production capacity of twelve floors daily, according to timesdaily.com. Jim Stariha, Southern Energy Homes’ chief financial officer, says, “This acquisition expands Southern Energy Homes’ production capabilities in Alabama and allows for continued growth in this market.” Southern Energy is headquartered in Addison, AL and was purchased by Clayton Homes in 2006.
