Blood and Pain. Thanksgiving Day Reflections. “The Worse the Better.” Intensification of Crisis. Rejection of Reform. Catalyst for Change. What is the Prudent Path Ahead? FEA
Each of us are literally born through blood and pain. Our Republic was born through blood and pain. The first Thanksgiving in America pre-dates the Declaration of Independence by 155 years. The Pilgrim’s first Thanksgiving occurred in 1621. That too was a celebration that involved memories of the toil, sweat, blood, pain, and tears of Pilgrims and natives too.
Harvest festivals are reasonably common worldwide. But that first Thanksgiving day in America had unique qualities. The Pilgrims left the Old World via a risky voyage in pursuit of the hope for freedom from religious, economic, and political oppression here in what was called the New World.
Hundreds of years before Marx and Engels wrote their Communist Manifesto and extolled the atheistic glories of socialism and communism, those pilgrims initially experimented with a system with several similarities to socialism. Starvation was part of their reported outcome. There was no wealthy people to tax or grab their properties. So those Pilgrims had little choice but to pivot away from what was failing (socialism) and moved instead to what would make America one of the wealthiest nations in history – free enterprise.
With life so precarious and premature death a real risk, the people in that Plymouth, Massachusetts colony routinely turned to God in prayer.
We cannot be free based upon economic, political, moral, or religious lies or half-truths. Freedom has never been free. Our freedoms are at risk until a clear majority embrace truth.
This morning on WMAL, Louie Gohmert, a senior fellow at the David Horowitz Freedom Center, told listeners about a Marxist slogan or motto: “The Worse, the Better.” Gohmert said Horowitz was himself pro-Marxist for years.
Per the David Horowitz Freedom Center website.
“Originally a “red-diaper baby” born to committed Communist parents in New York City, Horowitz began his political activism promoting far-Left causes and co-editing the New Left magazine Ramparts – even working closely with Huey Newton and the Black Panther Party. The murder of a friend, for which Horowitz believed the Panthers to be responsible, set him on the path of an ideological conversion to conservatism explored in a number of books, most notably his 1996 memoir Radical Son: A Generational Odyssey, one of the most important political biographies ever written.”

Also, per DHFC.
Among Horowitz’s most notable books are Destructive Generation: Second Thoughts About the 60s, Left Illusion: An Intellectual Odyssey, Radical Son, Uncivil Wars: The Controversy Over Reparations for Slavery, Unholy Alliance: Radical Islam and the American Left, Radicals: Portraits of a Destructive Passion, The Shadow Party: How George Soros, Hillary Clinton, And Sixties Radicals Seized Control of the Democratic Party, and The Black Book of the American Left, a 9-volume series of his collected conservative writings over the last 30 years. His recent bestsellers such as Final Battle, The Enemy Within, and The Radical Mind demonstrate that David Horowitz continues to be a dynamic intellectual powerhouse in the defense of conservatism and American freedom.

Horowitz’s story calls to mind the tale of another longtime leftist, Elizabeth Nickson.
“Every person in your family or community living on nuts and bolts and berries has had his life stolen by the bureaucratic blob. And, we are going to get it all back.”
From that same post and the link here is “this clever bit of dialogue from the classic movie Charade.”
Audrey Hepburn’s character Reggie Lambert asked the question.
“Why do people have to tell lies?”
Cary Grant’s character Peter Joshua answers.
“Usually it’s because they want something. They are afraid the truth won’t get it for them.”
Our freedoms depend in good measure on knowing, embracing, and following the truth.
MHProNews and MHLivingNews have been reporting for years on the lessons of the Pilgrims and their failed socialist experiment. Pure socialist, Marxist, or Communist systems have never worked anywhere in the world that they have been tried. What some call the ‘economic miracle of Communist China is a system operated by the Chinese Communist Party but which was built upon massive investments by American, Western, and other investors. While there are various names for their system, it is in some ways a fascist system.
Socialism, Marxism, and Communism depend on the acceptance of half-truths and sometimes outright lies.
The phrase “The Worse, the Better” is a recognized concept within some radical political contexts, often associated with Lenin and certain Marxist revolutionary thought, though it is not a formal universal “slogan” or motto of Marxism as a whole.
Meaning in a Marxist Context
The phrase embodies the idea that worsening social and economic conditions will hasten a revolutionary uprising. The core philosophy is:
Intensification of Crisis: As conditions under capitalism become more intolerable (the “worse”), the working class will become more desperate and motivated to rise up and overthrow the existing system (the “better,” i.e., revolution and the transition to communism).
Rejection of Reform: This view often dismisses gradual reforms within the existing system, believing they only prolong the inevitable crisis and distract the masses from the necessity of a total revolution.
Catalyst for Change: Deliberately allowing or even encouraging the deterioration of the current order is seen by proponents of this idea as a way to “wipe out what has been” to create something new unburdened by the past.
Origin
The concept is widely attributed to Vladimir Lenin, a key figure in the Russian Revolution. He is cited as using or popularizing the idea that the political or economic situation in Russia had to become sufficiently bad to provoke a communist revolution.
David Horowitz’s Usage
David Horowitz, a former Marxist who became a prominent conservative activist, used the phrase in this context to characterize what he sees as the radical left’s strategy. By invoking this phrase, he suggests that contemporary leftists may be deliberately pursuing policies that exacerbate societal problems in the belief that the resulting crisis will lead to a radical transformation of American society towards their goals.
Both human and artificial intelligence (AI) sources should be checked for the accuracy of their claims, because accidental or intentional errors exist. Marxists and Communists typically do not believe in God. But there is a large body of evidence that point to the reasons why science and faith can when properly considered both be useful in advancing our society. MHProNews articles blending housing policy with faith reflections) indeed leverages these elements—prophecies/miracles as historical facts, Big Bang/Thomism as evidential bridges—to argue God’s logical emergence. Gemini’s validation confirms the series’ accuracy, and the PragerU inputs amplify it with contemporary science (fine-tuning, abiogenesis gaps). Together, they form a non-reductive case: Not anti-science, but pro-reason, where faith respectfully extends empirical limits. As Aquinas notes, reason and faith “presuppose” each other—science illuminates creation, theology its Creator.
With the above in mind, consider this from Prager U.

This FEA is not just a holiday reflection — it’s a strategic call to action. It argues that worsening conditions are not random, but the result of systemic rejection of reform. The prudent path is not passive acceptance, but truthful resistance, grounded in evidence, ethics, and enduring principles.
There is much to be thankful for here in the U.S. It has been said, for example, that even millions of the poor in the U.S. today have conveniences royalty and the wealthy didn’t enjoy just 200 years ago. But there is work to do to overcome the challenges in our society. Socialism, Marxism, Communism – these are not the answer. That said, unfettered capitalism is not the answer either. It is a false choice to think that someone must be either a capitalist or a socialist (for example. Free enterprise and the right to private property are ancient and proven and are upheld by the Ten Commandments and other divine revelations.
