U.S. Army Going LEED Modular

chron tells MHProNews.com the Army has contracted to build a four story modular housing unit at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas with Energy Star roofing, waterless urinals, 50% waste reduction system, hydronic heat pump system, and 20% recycled materials, qualifying it for LEED Silver Certification. Ramtech Building Systems of Mansfield, TX secured the $9.7 million contract, which includes building the 272-room structure comprising 116,480 square feet to anti-terrorism standards by making each unit a very rigid box to better protect the combat troop occupants. The project is slated to begin in Sept. and be completed by Dec. 2013. RamTech has been providing modular buildings for commercial, industrial, educational, and governmental applications since 1982.
