South Dakota Adds a Modular Homes Builder

From Arizona, the Hot Springs Star reports that with 32 homes under contract, the newest modular home manufacturer in the state expects to hire 50 to 70 people when their new facility opens.  Mammoth Homes, in Fall River County, South Dakota, is taking advantage of recent changes in property tax laws, a willing labor force, and a receptive community.  Additionally, if they wanted a particular brand of lighting or plumbing in their homes, they had to purchase it at retail from a local provider.  Plant operations manager Jeff Seidel said they decided to become their own supplier, making their operation much more cost efficient.  “When we get rolling, we will roll out five to six homes a week,” said Seidel, a 30-year veteran of site built homes.
