Seven-Year Battle to Build Manufactured Housing Community Continues

Continuing the saga of Garden Homes Management Corp.’s seven year attempt to build a 124-unit manufactured housing community in Oxford, Connecticut, as MHProNews last covered Sept. 20, 2013, Nov. 14 saw another four and one half hour hearing to resolve the inland wetlands issue and storm water management without conclusion. The project has been through numerous court battles and appeals, commission and regulatory agency hearings, and professional testimony from both sides including charges of foul play. While the affect on the wetlands by the development is closer to being resolved, the storm water management application still has to be reviewed by one of the town’s consulting engineers. The current concern is that stormwater could overflow into the 13-acre wetlands area and contaminate the site. The hearing will continue Tue. Nov. 26, according to voicesnews.com.
