Sacramento Senior MHC Converting to All Age Community

In February, 2014 after occupancy at the 55+ Capital Estates manufactured housing community (MHC) in Sacramento, California dropped to 70 percent, the owners decided to convert the community into an all-age MHC, much to the dismay of current residents, as sacbee.com informs MHProNews. Community owners can legally drop the the seniors-only designation if the occupancy rate falls below 80 percent, providing the residents are given six months notice. While notices of the change to include families have already been posted, by August the make-up of of this 256-site gated community will likely change forever. “I feel residents’ frustration,” said Sacramento Councilman Kevin McCarty, whose district includes Capital Estates. “But this is a private matter between a private property owner and private residents.” ##
