Production Growth Continues

MHARRWashington, D.C., January 6, 2014 – The Manufactured Housing Association for Regulatory Reform (MHARR) reports that according to official statistics compiled on behalf of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), manufactured housing production continued to grow during November 2013. Just-released statistics indicate that HUD Code manufacturers produced 4,870 homes in November 2013, an increase of 11.5% over the 4,365 homes produced during November 2012. Cumulative 2013 industry production now totals 56,243 homes, a 9.4% increase over the 51,401 homes produced through November 2012.

A further analysis of the official industry statistics shows that the top ten shipment states from the beginning of the industry production rebound in August 2011 through November 2013 — with cumulative shipment totals as indicated — are:

1. Texas ——————————— 25,574 homes

2. Louisiana —————————– 9,899 homes

3. Florida ——————————– 6,436 homes

4. North Carolina ———————– 5,728 homes

5. Alabama —————————— 5,657 homes

6. Kentucky —————————– 5,144 homes

7. Mississippi ————————— 5,042 homes

8. California —————————– 4,140 homes

9. Tennessee —————————–4,089 homes

10. Oklahoma ————————— 4,080 homes

The latest information for November 2013 moves Tennessee into 9th place and Oklahoma into 10th place – reverse of their order in October 2013.

With one month of production data still outstanding, 2013 industry production has already exceeded that for all of 2012 and could possibly break the 60,000-home threshold for the first time since 2008.
