Number of MH Plants and Corporations Remains the Same

In their monthly report, the Manufactured Housing Institute (MHI) informs MHProNews the 4,190 MH shipped in Jan. is a 6.2 percent increase in production of manufactured homes in Jan. 2013 over Jan. 2012, representing a rise in both single-section as well as multi-section homes. Total floors shipped in Jan. 2013 equaled 6,417, an increase of 7.5 percent over Jan. 2012. Additionally, 123 plants reported production in Jan. 2013 representing 45 active corporations, the same as Dec. 2012. In a March 4, 2013 post, figures from the Manufactured Housing Association for Regulatory Reform (MHARR) indicated 4,242 HUD Code homes were shipped, a 52 unit discrepancy from the MHI numbers.

  1. If you annualized production numbers: 6417 * 12 You get a city the size of Beckly West Virginia 

    Very small relative to the U.S. wouldn’t you say?

      Thanks for your comment on the news.

      If we took Jan numbers x12 as you suggest, it would be 76,968 new home shipments. That would represent a sizable jump for our industry, over 20,000 units over 2012.

      That said, you are quite right. We have far more upside potential than 77k, which would be perhaps 15% of projected new construction for the year.
