Nonprofit Wants Modular Home for Shelter

The Fay Observer in Fayetteville, North Carolina, says Fayetteville Area Operation Inasmuch wants to site a modular home to house five homeless people on a lot owned by the city.  Using a $3,500 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), the city demolished a dilapidated house and acquired the lot.  Operation Inasmuch, a nonprofit, wants the city to donate the land.  The Fayetteville City Council has to decide if this proposal fits in with the intent of the block grant program, and if this modular home is something the city wants to do.  Operation Inasmuch operates another home for the homeless, and is in the process of building a duplex to provide housing for ten other homeless people.
