New Zealand Plans for Modular Affordable Housing

A collaboration between Strachan Group Architects (SGA) and the Unitec School of Architecture in Auckland, New Zealand on behalf of non-profit VisionWest Community Trust is set to build affordable and sustainable housing in Henderson, Auckland. The government’s Social Reform Housing Bill is pushing for private funding of building these modular, affordable units that feature passive solar, Structurally Insulated Panels (SIPs), custom CNC cut cabinetry and insulation 50 percent above code standard. As archdaily.com informs MHProNews.com, the project team consists of 16 third-year architecture students under SGA guidance. ##
