New Rules for Gas Furnaces from Department of Energy

US-Department-of-Energy-Logo-posted-daily-business-news-mhpronews-com-The Department of Energy is considering new efficiency rules, download linked here, for residential non-weatherized gas furnaces and “mobile home” gas furnaces.

The Energy Department’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy announced Wednesday it will hold a public meetings to discuss the proposed rules. This comes after a federal appeals court in April struck down the Energy Department’s former energy conservation standards for these furnaces, and which time the DOE agreed to issue new efficiency rules.

Clearly, DOE needs to be advised that the proper terminology is “manufactured homes,” not “mobile homes,” since no mobile homes have been built in the U.S. since June 15, 1976. ##
