New Ordinance Allows Placement of Pre-HUD Code Homes

A new ordinance unanimously passed by the Hamlet (North Carolina) City Council allows any factory-built home to be sited within the city limits providing it is set on a concrete foundation and “the tongue, axles, transporting, lights and removable towing apparatus shall be removed subsequent to final placement.” The previous ordinance, according to yourdailyjournal.com, required homes to be no older than 12 years to be sited, whether on an individual lot or in a community. Existing homes will be grandfathered in. MHProNews.com has learned if someone wants to bring in a pre HUD Code home, it can be sited. ##
