New Manufactured Housing Act Needs Your Action

uscongress-capitol-hill-credit=wikicommons-posted-daily-business-news-mhpronews-com-The Manufactured Housing Institute (MHI) reports the National Association of REALTORS ® (NAR) has endorsed H. R. 650, the Preserving Access to Manufactured Housing Act of 2015, which was introduced in the House Feb. 2, 2015 by Representatives Stephen Fincher (TN), Terri Sewell (AL), Andy Barr (KY) and Krysten Sinema (AZ), all members of the House Financial Services Committee. The NAR has one million members who have offered their support for the measure.

Because it is a new session of Congress, the Preserving Access measure had to be re-introduced and currently has 19 co-sponsors. Last year’s bill had 114 co-sponsors, and as MHI tells MHProNews, the industry needs to have them back to sign on plus add another 104 sponsors to bring the total to 218, just over half of the 435 members of the House.

MHI suggests several ways to help increase co-sponsorship of H.R. 650. Send an instant email to your member of Congress by clicking here; call the Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and ask to be directed to your representative; or speak directly with your representative during the upcoming “district work week” when representatives will be in their district offices the week of March 9-13. Give them a copy of the bill’s summary and relay to them the importance of H. R. 650 to working families, and how regulatory issues negatively impact consumers’ ability to purchase manufactured homes. ##
