Neighbors Object to Proposed Manufactured Home Community Down Under

A proposed 100-homesite manufactured housing community in Australia is running into stiff opposition from the surrounding community, with over 100 complaint letters received about increased traffic, pedestrian safety, flooding problems and social impacts, according to newcastlestar.com.au. Dismissing resident concerns that it would look like a “tin hut community,” David Hughes, speaking on behalf of the developer, says the largest social impact is the need for retirees who are looking to downsize, indicating the site for the community on a map of Mayfield, a northwestern suburb of New Castle, in New South Wales, AU. MHProNews.com understands he has already submitted a second application in response to several complaints, for the $30 million project. Councilors will likely take up the application at next month’s meeting.##
