Mystery Ingredient in 3D Printing Modular Home

3D_print__modular_home__3dprint__credit__mystery_Chinese_iingredientA Chinese company called Zhuoda Group is utilizing the 3D printing process to manufacture modular homes using a secret ingredient that they are not willing to divulge, according to 3dprint. It is not a cement base, as most 3D printed buildings are, but the company says it will withstand a 9.0 earthquake, resist strong winds, provide superior insulation, and generate negative ions, a feature particularly attractive to the Chinese.

While the company is reluctant to also reveal techniques used to make the modules, they are waterproof, fireproof, corrosion proof and can last for up to 150 years in any environment on earth. The material weighs 220 pounds per square meter, the equivalent of 10.76 square feet. A demonstration of assembling a house made of six modules required three hours.

MHProNews has been told a typical 500 square meter villa, about 5,380 square feet, could be constructed in 15 days. ##
