Moratorium Imposed on Manufactured Homes

City officials in Port Lavaca, Texas have imposed a six month ban on the development of new manufactured housing communities (MHCs) to allow the creation of new regulations. In the wake of the oil boom in the area, according to victoriaadvocate.com, two developers had applied for permission to build MHCs, which prompted the city to issue the moratorium. City Manager Bob Turner says housing has been in short supply for many years, but he will welcome developers who want to build affordable housing. MHProNews has learned the city officials will use the six months to discuss possible amendments to the existing ordinances.
