Modular Homes Come to New York’s Tony Hamptons

The owners of a 4,400 square foot modular home in Hampton Bays will never forget the sight of their home arriving on a caravan of six flatbed trucks. In two days it was assembled, roofed and ready for them to finish the interior. According to an article on Newsday.com Feb. 10, modular housing comprises only two to three percent of the U.S. housing market, but one real estate agent says people who see them tend to be impressed. One beach house on the market at Flanders Bay has three bedrooms and three baths on a half-acre peninsula, a great room, gourmet kitchen, a den and a study, and is listed at $1.1 million.
