Modular Health/Resource Center to Complete this Summer

Ground was broken this week for a new modular combination medical/dental clinic and family resource center in La Puente, California, just east of Los Angeles. The 3,200 square foot facility, set to open this summer, will feature two dental exam rooms for no or low-cost screening and treatment for the 600 students regularly seen, MHProNews.com has learned. The medical unit will have two separate rooms instead of the curtain that separated the exam room into two areas where it will provide immunization services, do lab work and offer medical care on a walk-in basis to uninsured, low-income children ages 3 to 18. As the sangabrielvalleytribune.com reports, the family resource center section of the modular building will provide mental health and homeless aid through the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act to at-risk students. The project will cost $900,000 to $1 million, with $750,000 from federal and state grants. ##
