Minnesota Town Looks to Upgrade Homes

From Minnesota, the Free Press reports that the city of St. Peter is planning to participate in a pilot program aimed at upgrading or demolishing mobile homes. The report indicates the plan would provide both rehabilitation incentives for homeowners with homes built to the HUD Code and buyout assistance for owners of older homes that would be scrapped. The community of Green Valley has been designated as the first targeted for the program. A large portion of the homes there were manufactured between 1958 and 1975.  Funding would come from several sources including the Southwest Minnesota Housing Partnership, the Minnesota Housing Finance Agency and the city of St. Peter.
