MHI Holds Conference Call with State Association Members

MHI held a conference call with 31 member state association executives on Tuesday, November 9. During the call, MHI provided a summary of election results and anticipated changes on Congressional committees impacting the industry. State association executives in turn shared information on relationships they have with newly elected Members and their potential for being industry allies in Washington, DC.

MHI updated state members on MHI’s 2011 priorities and decisions made at MHI’s Annual Meeting in Denver related to those priorities. Participants were informed of the upcoming meeting of MHI’s task force appointed to analyze the impact of the Dodd/Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act on the industry. MHI will work to resolve issues identified by the task force during legislative corrections to the law and/or during the regulatory process.

Discussion was also held on the recent meeting of the Manufactured Housing Consensus Committee (MHCC). Many states are facing budget constraints in running their SAA programs and this was also discussed. MHI and the state association executives hold regular calls to discuss national issues and help coordinate a unified message and strategy.
