Following up on a story we covered Jan. 19, 2012, HutchNews reports from Lawrence, Kansas the rental housing planned for University of Kansas students to replace the 241  site Gaslight Mobile Home Village is still being negotiated, as homeowners have begun moving out. Mid-America Manufactured Housing Communities will pay residents’ moving costs if they move to another community in Lawrence, according to Tom Horner III, an executive with the community owners. He says residents have until the end of the school year to stay, but because the deal is not yet sealed, there is no definite deadline to move.  Of the 150 current homes, ten residents have relocated. has learned the developer, Austin, Texas-based Aspen Heights, which has built student housing at other campuses, is planning 1,000 residents for this project.
