Coming of Age, S&S

There is a synergy that can – and does increasingly – exist between business professionals, associations and your industry's trade media. That was manifest in a very substantive way this week, when Kurt Kelly sent me an article that shared 10 tips for Gulf Coast Manufactured Home businesses to implement in preparation for the landfall of Hurricane Isaac. In about two hours, we had the article published, initial outreaches to promote it out and the first thank you messages from business and association leaders back in response.

Hats off to Kurt Kelly for his thoughtful, proactive sharing of insights. Our thoughts and prayers will be with those who are impacted by Isaac.

5 Keys Needed for the Manufactured Housing Renaissance

What is needed for a true, sustainable Renaissance for manufactured housing? Consider these five “pieces of the puzzle.”

    1. Best practices professionalism in marketing, sales and management.

    1. Committed businesses owners and professionals engaged in associations, business building events, in tandem with solution and goal focused trade media.

    1. Financing supported by effective Remarketing, or a “resale” process that mimics the potential results that realtors bring for lender's repossessions and consumer owned homes. Cost-effective remarketing/resale is a proven way to fuel more new home sales, support sustain home resale value and thus attract more qualified customers who want to know, what is my exit strategy if I buy a manufactured home?

    2. Local, state and national image building. We must define ourselves or others will define us. We must note that image building without professionalism is insufficient.

    1. Political engagement that includes positive engagement aligned with businesses, associations, trade media and some 20 +/- million manufactured home owners. When we as manufactured housing business professionals and associations have alignment with our manufactured home-owner base, the doors will open wider for us at the local, state and national levels.
