Manufactured Housing Community to Close

Updating a story MHProNews.com last published Nov. 8, 2013 regarding flood-prone Spruces Mobile Home Park in Williamstown, Massachusetts, town Selectmen signed a notice of discontinuance that will close the community Feb. 29, 2016. According to the Massachusetts Manufactured Housing Act, residents are entitled to at least two years written notice before a change can be made. In August of 2011 Tropical Storm Irene destroyed 159 of the 225 units in the community, leaving only 66 now deemed habitable, as berkshireeagle.com reported. The town was awarded a $6.13 million Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Hazard Mitigation Grant to relocate current residents of Spruces.
