Manufactured Home Serves as Medical Unit

The muscatinejournal.com reports Louisa County officials in Muscatine, Iowa will review regulations governing the siting of manufactured homes (MH) on rural property for people, often relatives, requiring advanced medical monitoring. The current ordinance states the MH needs to be moved after it is no longer needed. One property owner built a garage without a permit which included an apartment for a relative with special medical needs. The current rule would disallow such a structure, MHProNews has learned. County Zoning Administrator Greg Johnson, noting he will take the matter before the Planning and Zoning Board of Adjustment, says, “It depends on how the Board of Adjustment deals with it. I think the reason they wanted manufactured homes is because it can be moved after the person is done with it.”
