Manufactured Home Retailer began in 1955

Maine__twin_town_homes__bob_huatori__sunjournal_slash_monica_pennengill_jerkinsTwin Town Homes was incorporated in Maine 60 years ago and Bob Huatori has been there for 50 of those years, starting as a lot boy when he was 20, becoming president 25 years ago, and inheriting the business in 2006 when the son of the founder, Hayward Luck, passed away. The first ten-foot wide mobile home the company sold sits on a lot in Norway, Maine where Alton Luck first started Twin Town Mobile Homes, as sunjournal tells MHProNews.

Jody Dow hired on as a secretary 38 years ago and is now office manager and vice-president. Where they once sold only manufactured homes, they now not only sell modular homes, but they also offer site preparation, enabling them to provide a full turn-key operation to their customers.

We started doing that to keep up with other home companies. It’s a more complicated business because of that and it’s a lot more time consuming,” Dow said. “People continually seem to be amazed that manufactured housing isn’t like it used to be. They still think trailer or mobile home.

Huotari says they are seeing second and third generations coming in as customers. Despite the housing downturn from 2008 to 2012 that saw several of their competitors shutter their doors, Twin Town survived and business has picked up. ##
