Liberty Homes Closing Oregon Plant

Oregonlive.com reports that more than 200 workers will likely lose their jobs under layoffs announced Thursday by three unrelated western Oregon companies. The job losses come in the manufactured home, real estate and bio tech industries. According to the report, Liberty Homes Inc. filed plans with the state to permanently close its manufactured housing plant in Sheridan, affecting 83 workers. Layoffs are expected to begin by February. Based in Goshen, Ind., Liberty Homes also operates manufacturing plants in Alabama, Wisconsin and Kansas. The other job losses come from California-based ZipRealty Inc. and bioMerieux, a French company that makes products for diagnosing diseases.
