Iowa’s Proposed MH Fund Stymied by Amendment

As follow-up to a story we published Feb. 10, 2012, Joe Kelly, executive vice-president of the Manufactured Housing Association of Iowa (MHAI), tells MHProNews.com Iowa’s legislative bill HF 2013 will establish a fund for consumers to borrow money to purchase a manufactured home through the Iowa Finance Authority. The bill had been scheduled for debate in the Senate March 19, 2012, but an amendment was proposed similar to the landlord/tenant bill that was opposed by MHAI, and which the Iowa Senate defeated. The manufactured housing program fund is supported by Gov. Terry Branstad and legislative leaders. After the amendment was filed, the majority leader postponed the debate for a later date.
