Industry Production Growth Continues

MHARRWashington, D.C., July 3, 2013 – The Manufactured Housing Association for Regulatory Reform (MHARR) reports that according to official statistics compiled on behalf of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), manufactured housing production increased once again during May 2013. Just-released statistics for May 2013 indicate that HUD Code manufacturers produced 5,622 homes, an increase of 7.8% from the 5,211 HUD Code homes produced during May 2012. Cumulative 2013 industry production now totals 23,795 homes, a 5.1% increase over the 22,640 homes produced over the same period in 2012.

A further analysis of the official industry statistics shows that the top ten shipment states from the beginning of the industry production rebound in August 2011 through May 2013 — with cumulative shipment totals as indicated — are:

1. Texas ——————————– 19,143 homes

2. Louisiana —————————– 7,788 homes

3. Florida ——————————– 4,861 homes

4. Alabama —————————— 4,411 homes

5. North Carolina ———————— 4,357 homes

6. Kentucky —————————– 3,887 homes

7. Mississippi —————————- 3,812 homes

8. Oklahoma —————————–3,185 homes

9. North Dakota ————————- 3,165 homes

10. Tennessee ————————— 3,117 homes

The latest information for May 2013 moves Oklahoma into eighth place on the top ten list, while North Dakota moves into ninth place.
