From Indiana and RV Business, MHProNews.com learns that Rep. Tim Neese, R-Elkhart, has authored legislation that could boost recreational vehicle sales there. The bill would exempt the sales tax of seven percent on RVs and cargo trailers for nonresident purchasers who take their new RV purchase out of Indiana. “The bills intent is to bolster Indiana’s RV sales and towards keeping the revenue in Indiana to keep Indiana businesses flourishing,” said Rep. Neese. “Creating an incentive for customers outside of Indiana to purchase RV’s in our state will hopefully attract added customers to Indiana RV retailers in turn, strengthening Elkhart County and the state of Indiana’s economy.” Neese said the bill is supported by the Indiana Manufactured Housing Association and the Recreational Vehicle Indiana Council. The bill was read and referred to the Committee on Ways and Means.
