Great Southwest Home Show may Move

Sources tell MHMSM.com that organizers for the Great Southwest Home Show (GSWHS) are considering two key moves. One is a change of dates, the other a possible change of venue. One possibility mentioned is to have the GSHW Show in February. “That would take the show out of competition with MHI’s Congress,” a source said on condition of anonymity. Congress and the PMHA (Pennsylvania Manufactured Housing Show)’s HOMExpo 2011 both were seen as outperforming the Tulsa show earlier this year, when all three were scheduled the same week. Another source said that this year’s heavy tornado season and Tulsa, OK had it’s impact on attendance too. Officially, more attendees arrived from out of state in Tulsa during trade days than last year and total attendance for trade days increased. More home shoppers also came in 2011 than in 2010. However, an extra day was added that may account for the bump in public days attendance. While some exhibitors lamented attendance, others had an improved show over the year previous. Enough positives exist to motivate organizers to plan anew for 2012.
