Good News for MH—Shipments Rise Again

The Manufactured Housing Institute (MHI) reports MH shipments for the first quarter of 2012 totaled 12,780 homes as opposed to 9,696 for the same period 2011, an increase of 31.8 percent. March 2012 saw 4,696 new manufactured homes shipped, 16.4 percent more than the same month 2011. Although shipments of single and multi-section homes both rose, single section accounted for most of the rise, increasing 23.5 percent. The seasonally adjusted annual rate (SAAR) of shipments fell from February’s 63,111 rate to 57,268 in March, a drop of 9.3 percent. Total floors shipped in March 2012 hit 7,132, an increase of 14.4 percent over last March.
