FHA Commissioner Issues MHI and Louisiana MHA Requested Waiver to FHA Regulations for Loan Insurance

On October 15, FHA Commissioner David Stevens, issued an MHI and Louisiana MHA requested waiver to the FHA regulations for loan insurance under the FHA 203(b) single family housing program, to permit the placement of FHA mortgage insurance on manufactured homes, sited in the state of Louisiana, in flood designated areas, with the lowest floor at or above the 100 year return frequency flood elevation. This will align the current Title II manufactured housing flood hazard regulations with that of stick built homes. Without the waiver, no manufactured homes could be insured under the FHA Title II program in the state of Louisiana.

The waiver is for one year or until HUD publishes its pending Final Rule to amend the regulations permanently. Click here to view the waiver.
